Social Media 2013 Resolutions

Are You Socially Entertaining?

  • Are your Social Media profiles feeling neglected?
  • Do you need a re-vamp?
  • Do people think you are dull and just don’t engage with you?

My advice, get off your butt and make some social media 2013 resolutions, that you will keep for the superstitious year ahead.  The key to engaging using the social media channels is to enjoy yourself, if it feels like pulling your own teeth out, outsource it to someone.

The first step is to think about what is realistic, take into consideration your strengths and weaknesses.  Also, how much time you have available.  To help get you started, here are some suggestions:

  1. Clear out old contacts that you have never spoken to / or likely not to communicate with
  2. Say ‘Hello’ to anyone you haven’t spoken to for at least 6 months
  3. Review your branding and message that you send
  4. Tweet at least 5 times each day with interesting content – this can include RT’s
  5. Update your Facebook Business Page each day
  6. Write a blog every 2nd day and post

In life and at work, we should focus on what we are good at.  That way you tend to see results much faster.  For myself, I absolutely love digital media and coaching.  I wonder what has happened through the night and get excited in the morning checking out the updates.  Yes, really!

I have mentioned this before, but you need to be consistent and provide remarkable content to keep your online audience coming back for more.  If you are boring or dull, they will switch off.  The goal of social media is to share information, build your online reputation and raise the awareness of your brand.  So to motivate yourself, you need to make it fun!  Look for inspiration in books, listen to music, or talk to colleagues – bounce off the things that make you feel happy & make an impact.
